Joint International Conference – ICNERE and EECCIS 2016

The 3rd International Conference on Nano Electronics Research Education 2016 (ICNERE 2016) and 8th International Conference on Electrical Power, Electronics, Communications, Controls and Informatics System 2016 (EECCIS 2016) were held in Batu, Malang, East Java Province, Indonesia on October 31 –  November 2, 2016. The joint international conference of ICNERE and EECCIS 2016 were organized by Universitas Indonesia (UI), Shizuoka University, Universitas Brawijaya and Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM).

The objective of this joint conference was to provide opportunities for researchers, scientists, engineers and vendors working in the area of electric power, electronic, telecommunication, control and informatics to exchange their ideas and also to present and discuss latest results and future directions of research and application, and developments in the converging technology and educations of electrical and electronics engineering.

ICNERE & EECCIS 2016

Our research group consists of Mangaraja Longgam Saragi (from Universitas Mpu Tantular), Anak Agung Ngurah Gde Sapteka, Anak Agung Ngurah Made Narottama, I Nyoman Sukarma and I Gusti Putu Mastawan Eka Putra (from Politeknik Negeri Bali) has presented a paper entitled “A Study of Electric Field of Gaussian Silicon P-N Diode” on this conference.

The Symposium of ICNERE 2014

One of the important events for the researchers is a scientific conference, in which the researchers share their expertise and experiences  on research activities and built the networking among the researchers. It is therefore to intensify the event, University of Indonesia (UI) and Shizuoka University (SU) initiate a join conference on nano electronics research and education and it is defined as International Conference on Nano Electronics Research and Education (ICNERE). ICNERE is a bi-annual conference, the first ICNERE was organized in Bali-Indonesia in 2012 hosted by UI, and the second is organized by in Hamamatsu-Japan hosted by SU. The third ICNERE will be back in Indonesia hosted by UI in 2016, and the forth ICNERE will be in Japan again hosted by SU, and repeatedly bi-annually. The ICNERE is an open conference, meaning that participants are also from other universities beside UI and SU.

Cerita Tentang Pembuatan Peta Politeknik Negeri Bali (PNB)

Sebulan yang lalu saya ingin membuat peta digital Politeknik Negeri Bali (PNB) yang benar-benar baru dan berbeda. Tapi apa boleh buat, para guru besar memberi tugas-tugas harus didahulukan untuk dikerjakan. Saya juga diminta ke Denpasar untuk membantu Karang Taruna Satya Mahardika dalam lomba karang taruna kota Denpasar. Selain itu diperlukan banyak waktu ke PNB untuk melaporkan Penugasan Kembali serta mengajukan ijin Tugas Belajar S3 di Universitas Indonesia (UI). Sekembalinya ke Jakarta, kampus UI memberikan semangat baru untuk menyelesaikan peta ini. Sebagai mahasiswa S3 Teknik Elektro, saya memperoleh ruangan kerja tersendiri yang tenang, full ac, dengan dukungan koneksi internet kampus berkecepatan tinggi yang mampu mengakses berbagai jurnal internasional, bertempat di Gedung Engineering  Center FTUI . Pada ruangan ini juga disediakan water dispenser beserta teh, gula, dan kopi. Sungguh nyaman untuk berpikir dan bekerja dalam waktu lama. Kami menyebutnya ruang KD (Kandidat Doktor). Peta ini dibuat selama beberapa hari di ruang KD dengan konsekuensi pulang ke tempat kost yang semakin malam. Untunglah ada teman-teman yang bisa diajak pulang malam bersama, mengingat bis kuning UI, kendaraan dinas saya di UI, hanya beroperasi hingga pukul 21.00 WIB. Pernah saya merenung di ruang KD membayangkan selama belasan tahun saya bekerja sebagai di PNB, tidak juga dapat ruangan untuk bekerja  secanggih ini. Mungkin karena itu saya jadi jarang ke PNB dan lebih suka kerja sosial. Di Bali, kegiatan sosial kemasyarakatan sangat menarik bagi saya, sehingga saya pernah menjadi prajuru Banjar Catur Panca, lalu pernah ditugaskan sebagai pangemong Pura Jlih Lambih Pekambingan, serta juga dulu pernah aktif mengurus pecalang Tri Jaga Mandala, dan sekarang masih menjabat bendahara LPM Kelurahan Dauh Puri.  Aneh memang, karena sudah jelas pekerjaan sosial ini, PRnya banyak, tapi Rpnya sedikit. Malah sering harus keluar dari kantong sendiri. Lho, katanya cerita tentang Pembuatan Peta PNB, kenapa malah cerita  begini-begitu? Singkat cerita, setelah mencoba dengan berbagai cara, peta digital ini berhasil saya selesaikan walaupun masih perlu disempurnakan mengingat ada beberapa ruangan dan gedung di PNB yang hingga saat ini belum pernah saya kunjungi. Hasilnya dapat dilihat melalui link ini:

Avalanche Photodiode (APD) Animation

This animation describes about an electronic device called Avalanche Photodiode (APD). The device is used to detect visible light by calculating the penetration depth of light, the concentration of its building block (layers) and the effect of dead space. The design of this APD device consists of five layers, namely p1+  layer, pi layer, p2+ layer, n layer and n+ substrate layer, with two regions of electric field, the drift region and the multiplication region (MR). The design takes advantage of the electric field with a range of 1.75 x 105 – 6.40 x 105 V cm-1 at the MR to cause avalanche phenomena. You can find the animation here  http://sapteka.net/?page_id=103
