Avalanche Photodiode (APD) Animation

This animation describes about an electronic device called Avalanche Photodiode (APD). The device is used to detect visible light by calculating the penetration depth of light, the concentration of its building block (layers) and the effect of dead space. The design of this APD device consists of five layers, namely p1+  layer, pi layer, p2+ layer, n layer and n+ substrate layer, with two regions of electric field, the drift region and the multiplication region (MR). The design takes advantage of the electric field with a range of 1.75 x 105 – 6.40 x 105 V cm-1 at the MR to cause avalanche phenomena.
